In the red corner with crayons, paint brushes, and coloring books is the Web Designer.

And in the blue corner with code books, glasses, and a WordPress manual is the Web Developer.

After doing a lot of research and trying to figure out what the hell is the difference, I finally came to the conclusion that both opponents compete for the same thing. They both want to leave their mark on the internet. They battle to make an impression.

I guess the real question is what actually attracts and “Awwws” the viewer? The way the page looks? Or the way a page functions? I know personally that I have been to some websites that functioned way better than they looked, or looked way better than they functioned.

Now, how could something that looks so good, function so poorly? And how can something function so great but look like garbage?

Both of these opponents are indecisive.

More effort is put into one and not the other.

They have a lack of stamina.

Indecisive
Just because you might be able to drive a car does not mean you can fly an airplane. What I mean is that just because both of these can get you from point A to B, trying to fly a plane for the first time could take you forever just to get it in the air. And if you never drove a car before, it could easily kill you.
Pick one mode of transportation to get where you have to go.
Web Designers, do as your name says! DESIGN. Don’t try to be that super hero. There are some things that Batman does that Superman can’t, and Superman does some things that Batman can’t. But thats fine because they are both great.
Web Developers, you are not creative. You are smart problem solvers who use reference books to make it function. You are like the Puppet Master. With out one, the puppet is dead.

My main point is to stick at what you know and be great at it.
Yes, I am sure their are those “Hybrid Super Freaks” who can do both, Designing and Developing, amazing. But if your not there yet, that’s fine. Work at what you are good at to become great and do what “YOU”do.
